Female in Ads

For hundred of hundred of years, women are portrayed as suppressed, passive, and weak and need to be rescued. It shows in advertisements all the time, and because people were educated that way, so we are kind of accepted it. Although there are some feminism activist from different field have worked on over turn the images of females but it hasn’t changed much nowadays.

“Turning a human being into a thing is almost always the first step toward justifying violent against that person.” says Jean Kilbourne(Killing us softly 4). Even the language we speak is sexism. If you are a woman and sleep more than one man you are a slut, a bitch. If you are a man and sleep more than one woman, then you are lady’s man. I once heard a man commenting on “Sex and the City”, he said”This show turns every woman into a slut; they think it’s ok to sleep with whoever that want to.” Not that I think women should sleep around, but why we are being criticized harshly while former governor of New York is calling for a $5000 prostitute, and not being punished besides losing his title?

Woman's body or body parts often associate with sexuality in order to sell products, from cars, alcohol, to magazines. Few days ago, a 10-years old model, Thylane Loubry Blondeau, appearing on the French Vogue cover. She is wearing three inch hills and heavy makeup with sultry stares. Is this the message that the French Vogue wants to sell? Women are indeed being objectively from very early ages. Is this want we want to educate the next generation? While people allover the world is calling the French Vogue outrageous, Blondeau’s mother Veronika Lubry deafens the work, “The only thing shocks me about the photo is the necklace that she’s wearing which is worth three million Euros.”(ABC News). Indeed, things are getting worst.
